With all the hype prior to it being listed it was overvalued. In my opinion the market will eventually value it around USD30.00 per share, still less than the IPO stock price though.
Facebook (the service/website) has big problems, many stemming from it's overly complex user privacy settings. The fact it's completely blocked via the "great firewall" means the worlds largest consumer market is largely oblivious to what Facebook even is. Most Chinese have never heard of it. Mark Zuckerberg has traveled to China several times over the past couple of months. My money would be on him acknowledging that to truly dominate for years to come he has to have access to the Chinese "intranet" If he somehow pulls it off and the Chinese authorities lift the block, my money would be on the stock rising substantially. If not, then I expect it to remain largely where it is, perhaps climb modestly just above USD$30.00. I'm no expert though, so would be interested to read what others have to say on the topic. |

China has its own social networking sites (see renren.com). Even if facebook got access to china, it would still have to convince people to switch. With the inertia of millions of users, that would be a challenge. Also, it still doesn't solve the primary problem of monetizing the Facebook platform. At this point Facebook needs to be getting more dollars per user, not more users.
Also, note that Zuckerberg was visiting china with his ethnic Chinese girlfriend (now his wife). Not everything is related to business. |

With investor skepticism over Facebook's ability to turn users into dollars (as well as the effectiveness of advertising on the site), I don't expect FB stock to rise significantly higher than it is now without solutions to several operational issues.
